A Proven Winners Direct Customer Relationship Representative is one of the most important roles in our department’s success. They are the voice of our brand and represent the entire company through communications with customers over the phone, email and chat.

As Customer Relationship Representative, a typical day might include any of the following: 

• Help customers pick out plants for their gardens over the phone 
• Order replacement plants for customers that have an issue with their shipment 
• Respond to customer reviews to sustain trust in our brand 
• Answer general customer questions on our product pages 
• Experience with the #1 software for CRM and Statistical data reporting: Salesforce.

We are currently hiring for two different schedules.

1. Part time seasonal: Friday through Tuesday, 9:30am to 2:00pm.

The time frame for employment will be 6 months from the date of hire and will be fully remote. The starting pay for these positions will be $16.50 per hour for the entry level candidate. Pay may increase based on relevant skills and experience.

Human Resources Administrator

We are seeking a Human Resources Administrator with outstanding analytical, organizational and communication skills to enhance our department and keep pace with future growth. Information Technology Internship

Four Star Greenhouse is looking for a driven individual that wants to enhance and expand their knowledge in the IT industry. Our internship will help you gain exposure and work with a wide variety of systems, components, workflows, and technologies. You will also gain experience in:

• Utilizing and maintaining helpdesk software – including identifying and addressing trends, troubleshooting hardware and software faults, and resolving technical problems
• Monitoring and maintaining computer systems including updating ticket history to document troubleshooting steps and resolutions
• Installation and setup of profiles and computers for new employees
• Operating systems like MacOS and Microsoft Suite
• Other technology like robots, Zebra Printers and RFID (radio-frequency identification)
• Vendor communication and interaction

Seasonal Lab Technician

Four Star Greenhouse is a founding member of Proven Winners® – a leading consumer garden brand in North America. Our lab strives to ensure that our customers receive only premium, pest-and-pathogen-free products. This guarantees an easy, successful, and inspiring gardening experience for the end-consumer.

Four Star Greenhouse is seeking a full-time seasonal lab technician to assist in performing daily testing activities for the onsite lab. These activities include:

• Pulling soil, water and tissue samples
• Performing in house testing for chlorine, PH, EC and viruses
• Pull samples for outsource testing
• Tracking and recording data regarding positive and negative outcomes
• Recording insect counts within crops
• Troubleshooting any issues that may arise, with the supervisor

The successful candidate will follow well-developed virus testing protocols to maintain optimum sanitary standards. If you possess a high attention to detail and take pride in producing high quality products in a clean environment, then this is the position for you! This will be a full-time seasonal position with a pay rate of $16.60 per hour, for the entry level candidate. The time frame for employment will be December to June.

Signature Garden Lead

The Four Star Signature Display Garden is a 1.5-acre garden in Carleton, MI dedicated to displaying the garden performance of the #1 plant brand in the US, Proven Winners. Our garden is a living catalog of our plants, created to show any visitor how to be successful in their gardens at home.

Our Crew Leader position will function as the daily leader for the garden crew, providing a positive example and providing the mentorship that allows each crew member to safely, efficiently and successfully complete all daily assignments. Our Crew Leader will work side by side with the crew.

This is an entry level crew leader role. The successful candidate will not only have some landscape experience but will either have leadership experience or will demonstrate the capability and leadership philosophy that matches our values to lead a small crew of 2-3 people.

Product Test Coordinator

Proven Winners is a worldwide brand known for its vigorous, high-quality products and is also our main brand that we promote and sell here at Four Star Greenhouse.

Four Star is looking for someone to join our Research and Development team to coordinate trials that focus on plants being considered for market, production growing processes as well as trials for new lights, soils, fertilizers, growth regulators, etc.

They will also serve as a liaison and support personnel for the Production Growing Team as they learn to grow new plant varieties. We are looking for someone who possesses a high level of communication, organization and an eye for detail.

The Product Test Coordinator will:

• Oversee new variety sample plant programs.
• Organize and monitor the acquisition, propagation, transplanting, and maintenance of all items evaluated in our elevated production trial phases.
• Collect and interpret key production data to assist in training of staff, customers and end-users through marketing and technical support mechanisms.
• Support knowledge transfer for new products by developing growing culture, photo-documentation, and other additive content to ensure a successful product launch.
• Collaborate to establish criteria and methodology for evaluating each new product.

This will be a full-time year-round position with a competitive benefits package. We are looking for someone who has a minimum of 2 years with a horticulture degree; or 3 years of experience in a related field. Senior Production Supervisor

Four Star Greenhouse has 30 acres of state-of-the-art greenhouses to produce our high-quality plants for a nationwide customer base. Our production is modeled after a manufacturing facility and includes a Quality Assurance department. Our Production & Quality Assurance teams stick unrooted cuttings, trim, plant, and patch our products on assembly lines. The Production team also hangs baskets & moves plants so that they are always located in the optimal growing environment. All production and quality assurance team members are thoroughly trained and have jobs with minimum standards. All jobs are tracked for productivity and many jobs offer piece rate bonuses. Some tasks are automated with robotic technology while most jobs are completed manually by an experienced team.

Our Senior Production Supervisor will lead a diverse team to produce high quality crops in a positive work environment. Skills required for this senior level position include using a positive leadership style and strong employee engagement principles to inspire and motivate everyone to produce high quality work. Key aspects of this position include:

Maintenance Assistant

Do you enjoy troubleshooting, problem solving and using your hands? Do you find fulfillment in fixing equipment and overcoming challenges? If this sounds like you then we would love to hear from you, because Four Star is currently looking to hire an entry-level Maintenance Assistant.

Our business is modeled after an assembly line manufacturing facility, but the difference between our company and others is that we produce beautiful living plants. We have 30 acres of greenhouses, over 4 acres of outdoor growing area, 4 warehouse/service buildings and a couple office buildings too. In our facility we have lots of technology and automation including soil mixing equipment, shipping and sorting lines, sticking robots, booms, and other irrigation machines, which are maintained by our maintenance department.

The Maintenance Assistant will be a key member of a small team that is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and building greenhouse structures and equipment. The goal is to keep our facilities operating safely and efficiently. They will be asked to complete various tasks and work under the mentorship of our current maintenance technicians, inside our greenhouse facilities. Our Maintenance Assistant will help respond to maintenance requests through our ticketing system and complete all required documentation to close these cases. Section Grower Team Leader

At Four Star Greenhouse, we recognize that our employees and leaders are our most valued resource. We are looking for an approachable leader who is passionate about helping others grow. A Team Leader at Four Star Greenhouse provides inspirational leadership for daily and specialized assignments like pesticide applications, crop care techniques or advice on insect and disease identification.

This position will mentor, oversee, and guide our Section Growers on a day-to-day basis using positive leadership techniques, to ensure they are receiving training and have the expertise needed to produce our crops to meet our quality specifications. A Team Leader will also play a large role in supporting our Growers by creating SMART goals to achieve and by providing positive feedback and continuous encouragement.

The Team leader will act as a liaison between the Product Line Managers and other departments, to ensure messages are accurately communicated and implemented as needed. They will also function as an advocate for all Section Growers regarding equipment repairs or upgrades and help obtain needed supplies.

Section Grower

If you would like to turn your passion for growing into a career, we will train you to grow plants as a Section Grower inside our 25+ acre greenhouse complex. Section Growers are the caretakers for our crops. Once trained, this position is responsible to decide what to water, when to water and how much to water. Applying fertilizers and making other applications are additional functions you would learn. Growing quality crops in time to ship to our nationwide customer base is the end goal.

We offer a competitive wage and benefits package. We prefer to hire full-time year-round but we may also be open to a seasonal full-time schedule working from December through mid-June.

Job summary is to correctly perform the cultural requirements needed for each crop in such a way to produce quality plants, on a consistent basis, with minimal losses, and as efficiently as possible. Maintain the growing area to meet the sanitary and organizational standards of the company.

This position starts at $17.25 per hour for the entry level candidate. Starting pay may increase based on relevant skills, experience and education. We pay a $2/hr shift premium for weekend work. We pay time and a half for all hours worked past 40 hours in a week. We offer the opportunity for a merit increase after 90 days and annually thereafter.
